Standard Delivery & Shipping
We deliver to customers Australia-wide, with a few far-flung exceptions.
Unfortunately, due to increased shipping costs we are now unable to deliver to some remote or rural postcodes. Whilst we’d love to deliver to ALL Aussies, transit costs to these areas far outweigh what we can reasonably charge customers, and may still result in unsatisfactory experiences.
We appreciate this is less than ideal. If your postcode is not supported we suggest arranging collection from a serviced postcode address, if at all possible.
If you're in one of our same-day delivery areas (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth) you can select a delivery time that's convenient for you.
Order a mattress or furniture item before 3pm on any weekday and we can deliver your order within 4 hours, if its in stock. Weekday evening and Saturday morning deliveries are also available!
Small items when ordered on their own (including bedding, bed linen and pillows) will be delivered FREE across metro areas. Please check your delivery date estimate at checkout.
Outside of our same-day delivery areas delivery is still completely free. Your items will be shipped from our metro warehouses so delivery will take longer. You will receive your delivery in 1-10 business days.
We offer free delivery to almost everywhere in Australia for any order that includes a mattress. Small item delivery is free, always, but we charge a delivery fee for bulkier furniture items. Enter your address at checkout to confirm if there are any delivery fees to your location.
If you choose Premium Delivery Service when you order a mattress and an item of furniture, the premium rate of $199 will apply. You’ll then get your furniture item/s delivered and assembled in the room of your choice, as well as rubbish removed.
Enter your postcode into the delivery checker at checkout to confirm if we deliver to your area, see a delivery estimate and whether there are any delivery fees to your location.
Your delivery is impacted by the size and weight of the items you're ordering. Find out more here for a breakdown of items and delivery costs or enter your postcode at checkout.
Delivery fees are calculated by the size and weight of your order as well as your location.
They sure are. Any order that includes a mattress qualifies for free delivery, no matter where you live when you choose standard delivery.
If you choose Premium Delivery Service when you order a mattress and an item of furniture, the premium rate of $199 will apply. You’ll then get your furniture item/s delivered and assembled in the room of your choice, as well as rubbish removed.
For standard delivery, our delivery drivers will deliver to your apartment door if your apartment has a lift. If your apartment does not have a lift, our drivers are happy to deliver up to 3 flights of stairs (i.e. 30 steps).
For Premium Delivery Service, the delivery and assembly of your furniture will take place in your room of choice, regardless of whether you live in a house or an apartment.
When you get rid of packaging thoughtfully not only is it better for the environment, it can be reused to create new products.
Paper and Cardboard (including Honeycomb Cardboard) - Flatten your cardboard boxes or rip them up before placing them in your recycling bin in order to save space. You don’t need to worry about removing any tape or labels from your cardboard boxes. They will be removed in the recycling process.
Soft plastic packaging - While these are recyclable, In Australia, soft plastic packaging can’t be recycled through most kerbside recycling services. You can recycle soft plastics through the REDcycle bins found at Coles and some Woolworths stores.
Woven Polypropylene material / bags and Bubble wrap (large sheets cut into A3 size pieces) - The REDcycle program makes it easy for you to recycle your soft plastics - simply gather together all your scrunchables and drop them into a collection bin at participating supermarkets.
If you’re ever unsure what the go is, pay a visit to recyclingnearyou.com.au or contact your local council, or take a peek at our blog for some great ideas on how to reuse and recycle the packaging.
Or, if you’d prefer we take your rubbish away and ensure it’s recycled properly, you can opt for our premium delivery service at checkout. This also includes delivery and assembly in the room of your choice on top of rubbish removal.
Yes, we'll send you an SMS when your delivery has left the warehouse.
If you're in one of our same-day delivery areas (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth), you will also receive a live tracking link in the text so that you can see where your product is at any point in time!
If you choose standard delivery, we can leave your delivery somewhere safe if you're not home. Make sure you tick the box during checkout to let us leave your package unattended.
If you choose our Premium Delivery Service, someone needs to be home to let the delivery team in to assemble your furniture and remove your rubbish.
If you're in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth you can select a delivery time that's convenient for you - weeknights until 8pm and Saturday mornings included! Find out more about how we deliver. These extended hours apply for our standard delivery only.
All our furniture items are delivered by a courier to your nominated delivery street address. For safety (OH&S) reasons our couriers are not allowed to enter your home, or carry the items up more than three flights of stairs. If you think you’ll struggle with the bigger or heavier boxes, we recommend inviting someone over to help.
Please note if you live in an apartment block, our drivers may not be able to take your items to your front door so you may have to meet them at the front.
In certain metro areas, we do offer a paid Premium Delivery Service where customers are able to access an all-in-one delivery, assembly and rubbish removal service. If this service is available to you, you’ll be able to select this service at the checkout.
Given the sheer size of Australia, it can take a bit of time to get to the hard to reach places so the best we can do at the moment for regional and rural deliveries is 1-15 business days. If a better, faster method comes up, we’ll be just as keen as you to make it an available option.
We calculate our delivery charges on how much our delivery partners charge us and this is based on the distances from a city centre. In most, if not all, cases we do not pass the full delivery cost onto our customers. However, in instances where it’s really costly, we kindly ask for a little help in getting our furniture out to you.
We currently deliver within 1-15 business days to most regional and rural areas which is pretty speedy (especially compared to other furniture retailers). We’re passionate about delivering the best service to our customers so we’ll continue to figure out easier and quicker delivery options.
We assess all warranty claims on a case by case basis to make sure every claim is handled fairly. We will not charge you a return delivery fee if we deem that the appropriate measure. Additionally, we will not ask you to pay for the delivery fee for any replacement product either.
Yes, returned products under our 120 night trial will receive a full refund, including original delivery fees.
When we started, we were a mattress brand, and it was our promise to deliver mattresses to every corner of the country for free. We’re still delivering on that promise with delivery remaining FREE for all orders that include a mattress when you choose standard delivery.
And getting you your goods fast is still our priority - we continue to offer same day furniture delivery to metro customers. We’re constantly working with our partners to keep our delivery prices on the low end (and well below what other furniture companies charge).
We're still 100% committed to treating you like a mate, with our hassle-free service, still with free returns for metro areas, and 120 night trial.
If you opt for Premium Delivery Service for your order, we’ll deliver your furniture in a room of your choice, assemble it, and remove all cardboard and plastic rubbish. This will incur a flat cost of $199, regardless if your order is furniture-only or also includes a mattress.

Our showroom in Alexandria, NSW is no longer open to the public. However, don't worry! With our 120 Night Trial, you can comfortably order and trial our products in your own home! Billing & Payments
We accept Mastercard, VISA, Amex, PayPal, Afterpay and Zip. We operate online, so unfortunately we cannot accept cash. For security reasons we don't accept payment over the phone.
There is no maximum amount of gift cards that can be applied to an order (which would make an excellent wedding gift idea). However there could be a slight delay for the payment to process compared to a normal credit card purchase.
Your donation to WWF-Australia will appear on your bank statement. Please use this to claim your tax-deductible donation.
Yes, we do! Our buy-now-pay-later providers all offer 0% interest for Koala customers when repayments are made on time. Simply select Zipmoney or Afterpay during checkout to apply, you will receive an answer within seconds and can purchase straight away. Customers seeking to purchase using Zipmoney are subject to credit approval. Learn more about our finance options.
Yes you can apply gift cards, and discount codes to orders even if using a buy-now-pay-later payment option.
In order to qualify for approval for more than $500 in credit, you need to be an Afterpay customer with a successful payment history. If you are a new Afterpay customer, the first payment will be made at the time of purchase, with payments at regular intervals over the next 6 weeks.
Things that might be affecting your Afterpay limit:
are there sufficient funds on your card (generally they look to see 25% of the order value available to spend)
length of time you have been using Afterpay (typically $500 for new customers)
amount you have to repay, it may help to pay some off (not a guarantee)
adding a credit card may increase your spending power (not a guarantee)
Please contact Afterpay for more information about your specific situation.
Customers using Afterpay repay their purchase every fortnight for 8 weeks with the first payment made upon purchase.
Afterpay has a limit of up to $3000 with a first time customer limit of $500.
You can apply for an Afterpay account during checkout, however typically new accounts have a $500 limit.
First get pre-approved (it takes 3 minutes), then select ZipMoney during checkout!
Zip offers two payment solutions: Zippay for purchases under $1000, and Zipmoney for purchases over $1000.
Zippay customers have until the end of the month to repay the total amount due. If you need extra time to pay off your balance you'll just need to pay the monthly minimum of $40, and a $6 account fee will be added to your balance for the following month. If you repay the total amount, the $6 account fee is waived.
Zipmoney customers can schedule their repayments to be made weekly, fortnightly or monthly as long as you pay the minimum of $40 per month (or whatever is left owing). You can make additional payments which will not incur any fees, and will not stop your schedule from running.

Mattresses
Koala recommends unboxing your new mattress within a few days of receiving it. This will ensure integrity in the foam resilience so it delivers a not-too-soft, not-too-hard but just right firmness.
If you are concerned about your Koala mattress being delivered to you before you need it, please get in touch with our wonderful Customer Service team and they can arrange delivery for you at a later date.
The Koala Mattress is specially compressed for ease of shipping. It can take 3-5 days for the mattress to come back to its correct shape and feel, but you can sleep on it right away. It will just get better over the first few days.
Compression or pre-crushing is actually great for foam. This compression removes any inconsistencies within the foams hardness and density. The level of compression within the Koala Mattress reduces the risk of body signatures and drastically increases the foams longevity.
As long as your bed base has adequate support and ventilation, it'll work with the Koala Mattress. If it's a slat base, the slats should be no more than 7.5cm apart. While posture slats can be used, they can make the mattress feel considerably softer than it actually is, so for the best comfort we recommend that they are straight (flat) slats.
We don't recommend either using the mattress straight on the floor without ventilation underneath as this can lead to moisture build up, or on an adjustable bed as bending or folding the mattress might cause long-term damage to the core or supportive layers.
If you need to buy a new base, check out our Timber Bed Base or our Paddington bed base. They're strong and easy to assemble!
In selected areas of Sydney and Melbourne we've partnered with Soft Landing, a mattress recycling social enterprise, to remove and recycle your old mattress for a reasonable fee.
Once you've ordered your Koala mattress, we'll send you the details to book your mattress pick up through Soft Landing.
We undertake rigorous testing on our mattresses to create a product that we reckon is the perfect comfort for anyone, no matter your shape, size or how you prefer to sleep.
Our adaptive cores and trade marked Zero Disturbance® technology helps to evenly distribute weight across the entire mattress, which means no matter your body type, our mattress range helps to create a more comfortable night’s sleep without the fear of bottoming out or feeling those pesky, pointy springs.
Rotate the mattress regularly, especially in the first few months as the comfort layers settle and conform to your unique body shape and size. This helps to ensure a more even amount of wear over the life of the product.
We understand that everyone is different so try it out risk free with our 120-night trial and experience the famous Koala comfort for yourself!
Try it for yourself
You can try the mattress at home with our risk-free 120-night trial. If you don't love it, you can return it for a full refund. In Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, we'll even pay for return shipping, or pick up your return for free.
We don't recommend putting the Koala Mattress on the floor as it prohibits airflow, which can cause mould and other damage. If you need to buy a new base, check out our Timber Bed Base or our Paddington bed base.
Unfortunately not without the required industrial equipment! Find out what else the Koala Mattress can do.
In Australia, while some commercial applications may require mattresses to be flame retardant, we choose not to use any flame retardant chemicals in either the foams or textiles as many of these chemicals are considered harmful to humans with long-term exposure. The polyester fabrics used do help to provide a natural level of fire resistance and tend to melt before ignition, however, they will still catch fire given enough time and heat, as most things do.
We strongly recommend you always use a mattress protector with your Koala mattress. Using a mattress protector is far more hygienic and will result in improved durability and hygiene of your mattress.
Yes, you can use an electric blanket or heating pad on the Koala mattress range, just remember to always follow the safety instructions for the device. While these devices are great for heating up your mattress on a cold night, keep in mind that heat can make foams feel softer. Always practice good mattress maintenance when using an electric blanket or heating pad and never use if the device is faulty or otherwise damaged.
In our mattresses, we only use foam that has been CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning it has been produced to the best environmental standards in our mattresses. Our foam has undergone rigorous and thorough assessment to ensure it has the lowest possible impact on human health and the environment. Our foam has been tested to ensure there are no heavy metals such lead or mercury, and there are no harmful phthalates present. The Koala Mattresses are made without the use of ozone-depleting substances including methylene chloride and other CFCs. The Koala Mattresses have also been produced and tested to have low VOC emissions to ensure it has a low impact on air pollution and indoor air quality. The new Koala Mattresses are also certified by Good Environment Choice Australia (GECA). This means the products have been independently assessed to meet a wide range of environmental, human health and social impact criteria.
The Koala mattress uses a heavy zipper with innovative magnetic clasp to attach the topper to the base. With the zipper slider in the fully retracted position, bring the two parts of the magnetic clasp together to engage. Then slowly and smoothly pull the zipper all the way around the mattress. If the zipper is getting stuck, leave the components to further decompress for a couple of hours to improve the experience.
The New Koala mattresses are predominantly made from technologically advanced, modern polyurethane foam, as well as other cutting edge materials such as Charcoal infused memory foam and SENSOPOLE® fabric. Find out more about the Koala Mattress and its construction.
The new Koala mattresses have all been designed to prevent excess heat retention and maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature. Find out more about the new Koala Mattress range.
TENCEL™ is made from sustainably-sourced wood. The process used to create TENCEL™ fibres is eco-friendly, and has won awards for its low environmental impact. The result is a fabric that's more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.
COOLMAX® technology offers permanent cool and dry benefits. COOLMAX® fibre wicks the moisture away from the body keeping the user dry and cool. COOLMAX® is a trademark of The LYCRA Company.
The comfort layer incorporates phase change materials (PCM) that absorb, store and release heat for optimal thermal comfort. Heat is absorbed or released as the PCM changes from solid to liquid and vice versa. This gives fabrics treated with Sensapole® the ability to regulate the skin’s microclimate.
Bamboo charcoal has many great qualities: it eliminates odours, absorbs excess moisture, and regulates temperature. Memory foam delivers excellent pressure relief, for a more comfortable sleep experience. We’ve moved this away from the body to solve for the issues of sinking in to the memory foam (slow response foam chemistry). Memory foam is also know to sleep hot. We have solved for this by introducing ventilation holes to allow for maximum airflow and ensure the dissipation of heat.
Use a cloth with warm water and a light detergent. Spot clean only and allow to fully dry in the shade before using the mattress again.
Although it is possible to use a Koala Mattress on an adjustable bed base, our mattresses have been engineered to work best on a flat platform or slatted surface that allows adequate ventilation underneath. If the mattress is bent or folded for extended periods of time you may end up causing damage to the core and supportive layers, which would not be covered under our Koala Warranty. While it doesn't have to be a Koala Bed Base we reckon you should give it a go because it just looks so much better!
To maintain the integrity, shape and feel of your new Koala Mattress, we recommend rotating 180 degrees once per month.
We recommend trying the medium-firm side first to get a feel for the mattress and how it interacts with your body.
Unfortunately our mattresses are not currently NDIS approved.
We have a minimum 7 day trial period before you can start a returns process within your 120 night trial. Why you ask? Well it’s like those shoes you have that are super comfy and offer your feet the support in all the right places but it takes a bit of time for your feet to wear in those shoes. Just like it takes your body a bit of time to adjust to a new mattress (truth be told, most people snooze off straight away but every body is different). Please rest assured though, that if you don’t feel the Koala mattress is right for you after 7 days, you will be able to return it, no questions asked.
Just like a new car smell, opening a new mattress can create a unique smell of polyurethane foam, which is common in foam mattresses.
If aired out or placed in a ventilated area the smell will often disappear quite quickly – usually within few hours to a two weeks after unboxing.
Koala mattress foams are made without formaldehyde, are low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), and meet CertiPUR-US® standards for content, emissions, and durability, and are analysed by independent, accredit testing laboratories.
While air purifiers can help to remove aromas from the air that are sometimes present with new products, they only work while on and do not provide a great exchange of new air into the room or environment.
We recommend the quickest way to help these aromas dissipate is through ventilating the space and allowing plenty of natural airflows (for example, by keeping a window open).
Vacuuming the mattress on a low setting can also help to pull the aroma out of the product and help improve the airflow to dissipate the new product aroma.
Kirribilli Bed Base
Although we don’t provide a specific weight limit on our beds because everyone uses them differently, we’ve put this bed through its paces with rigorous testing of key components up to 240kg static weight. This does not mean the bed can not take more weight.
Yes the bed base can be used without the bedhead.
The bedhead provides a stylish aesthetic and somewhere to lean against, though still the base can be used without it. Please store the bedhead carefully when not in use.
The Kirribilli bed base is specifically designed without a centre leg to maximise under-bed storage. We still highly recommend leaving some space for optimum air-flow.
The timber veneer and stains are the same, however, like people, no 2 trees are the same so timber colours will naturally vary from batch to batch.
When you get rid of packaging thoughtfully not only is it better for the environment, it can be reused to create new products.
Paper and Cardboard (including Honeycomb Cardboard)
Flatten your cardboard boxes or rip them up before placing them in your recycling bin in order to save space. You don’t need to worry about removing any tape or labels from your cardboard boxes. They will be removed in the recycling process.
If you’re ever unsure what the go is, pay a visit to recyclingnearyou.com.au, contact your local council, or take a peek at our blog for some great ideas on how to reuse and recycle the packaging.
Technically you can but the results aren't guaranteed! Painting or staining your bed base may affect the Koala warranty.
The bed base is made from a mixture of Ash veneers, Engineered veneers and plywood.
Timber veneer is real timber, sliced very finely. It is not made from man-made fibre, therefore it is a renewable and sustainable resource.
Plywood is a panel-shaped, wood-based material made from several thin layers of wood (the plies or wood veneers) that are glued crosswise (90° angle to each other) along the grain. This normalises material properties such as shrinkage and swelling behaviour.
Regular Care (Weekly)
Vacuum regularly using low suction

Yes, no animal products are used in the production of the Paddington Bed Base.
The Paddington Bed Base is tested to highest standards. We do not specify a weight limit to the bed base, though it has been tested to point load of 240kgs as per standard.
This does not mean the bed base can not take more weight than specified.
When you get rid of packaging thoughtfully, not only is it better for the environment, it can be reused to create new products. We listed some recycling tips below so you can rest easy with a clear conscience:

The Balmain Bedside table weight limit is 12kg. It has been QC tested to the standards and we’ve put this bedside table through its paces with rigorous testing.
No, it has been made for the Balmain Bed Base only
Bedside Table
We use American white oak to veneer the plywood and MDF. The rounded back corners are made from solid American ash.
Different factories have different sourcing capabilities, we find it's best to work with materials they know. We also like to use blonde timber tones so while they don't match, they work well together to create a harmonious colour palette.
The bed base has a red oak veneer and the bedside table uses white oak. Because of the different species of oak, we don't try to create a perfect match between the bed base and the bedside table.
No it comes fully assembled, just remove it from the box, give it a light dusting and it's ready to go. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners as this may damage the surface of the product.
The drawers can be removed and re-installed without much trouble. Please follow the assembly Instructions.
The new components can sometimes make the drawers to not close softly but over time with use they get better.
Cloudy Pillow
Memory foam is both energy absorbent and heat sensitive. One of the great benefits of memory foam is its ability to use your heat and body pressure to form to your exact shape.
Once your body heat penetrates the pillow, it will slowly soften and mould to your neck and head, accepting your body’s pressure points. Effectively, this allows you to nestle into your pillow, rather than simply lying on top of it.
All foams that go into your Koala Pillow are CertiPUR-US® certified. This means no ozone depleters, PBDEs, TDCPP, or TCEP flame retardants, mercury, lead or other heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. You can learn more at the CertiPUR-US® website: https://certipur.us/
Our pillows are made to last, however you do need to ensure you also look after your pillow as per our recommendations and care label instructions. We offer a 1 year warranty on all of our pillows.
It can take up to 4 weeks for your body to adjust to the feel and support of the Koala Pillow. Allowing your body time to adjust will ensure a smoother transition.
We recommend spot cleaning only. The pillow will distort in shape if put in the washing machine.
A pillow protector can help extend the life of your pillow. Some of our pillows have a removable cover that you can easily wash at home.
The Koala Pillow and Breeze Pillow come with a removable, washable cover. We do however recommend to use a pillowcase. Head to our website to check out our pillowcases that offer a perfect fit for our pillows.
The Koala Pillow
Our pillow's core is made from 100% polyurethane gel foam. It's infused with a cooling gel and has built-in ventilation. The foam meets CertiPUR-US® program standards for content, emissions and durability, and is analysed by independent, accredited testing laboratories. The cover is made from 66% polyester and 34% TENCEL™ Lyocell Fibers.
The pillow has a label on the side with an "S" and a "F". The side represented by the "S" is the softer side and the side represented by the "F" is the firmer side.
The cover is really easy to clean. You can unzip the cover to remove this from the foam core. The cover can be easily washed in your washing machine on a cold wash cycle. Once the cover is fully dry, you can then zip this back on to the foam core.
Memory foam is temperature sensitive. Heat from your body softens the material and causes it to yield to weight. If exposed to unusually warm temperatures, the pillow will become more flexible. By the same token, if exposed to cooler temperatures, the foam can become a little inflexible. The air flow holes in the foam help in reducing the difference.
We suggest using a Queen size pillowcase for the Koala pillow to provide the perfect fit.

Breeze Pillow
If you have the Koala Breeze Pillow, the pillow has an easy care outer removable cover that can be washed. Please refer to the care label on the pillows for specific washing instructions.
The foam inside should not be washed or even spot cleaned with anything wet. If it does get wet it should be patted dry or aired out of direct sunlight, then vacuumed or brushed gently. Depending on how wet it gets, it will take time to dry completely. Please do not try to fold or wring the foam, as this can damage the foam resulting in rips and breaks.
PCM stands for "Phase Change Material." This is special technology that helps to regulate your body temperature during sleep.
The inner cover is non-removable and provides a layer of protection to help keep the foam core clean and extend the life of the product. The fabric layer does not impact the function of the pillow.
Bamboo charcoal is made from the bamboo plant. The bamboo is burned at high temperatures, then ground into a fine powder and infused into the memory foam.
The pillow is the same, the difference in the image is that it is shown without the inner cover. We wanted to show you what the actual foam looked like with the PCM, hence the inner protective cover was taken out.

All Seasons Duvet
You can connect the Balmy Nights Duvet with the All Seasons Duvet. Stack the duvets on top of each other and fit the silicone rings in each corner of the All Seasons Duvet over the silicone connectors in each corner of the Balmy Nights Duvet.
Yes you can. Wash on a gentle cycle at no higher than 30 °C.
There are no rules as to how often you can wash your duvet. We have designed this to be easily washable so you can throw this in the washing machine as often as you like.
The only person taking your duvet for a spin should be you. Never chuck it in the dryer as the filling will become damaged, clumpy and bulky as a result of the heat, plus the dryer isn't environmentally friendly but luckily the sun is! Lay your duvet flat or hang it on your washing line in the shade after washing to let it dry. See the care label for full washing and drying instructions. Unfortunately if you pop your duvet in the dryer and damage the product, it won't be covered by the Koala Warranty.
The silicone connectors in the corner have two purposes. The first is to enable you to tie your bedlinen through the central hole in the connector. The bedlinen will have ties in the corner which you can tie to the corners of the duvet. This not only makes it super easy to change your bed linen but also means that the bedlinen stays in place while you sleep and does not move around. The second purpose, is that these connectors can match up with the silicone rings on the All Seasons duvet, so if you have both duvets and want to join them together for a super warm winter duvet, you can use these connectors to hold the two duvets in place.
Fill power is a measure of the loft or "fluffiness" of a product. The higher the fill power, the more air that the filling can trap, therefore the better insulation.
TENCEL™ is made from sustainably-sourced wood. The process used to create TENCEL™ fibres is eco-friendly, and has won awards for its low environmental impact. The result is a fabric that's more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen.
TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and is used to measure the thermal insulation of a product. The higher the TOG rating of a duvet, the warmer it is.

Great Barrier Mattress Protector
When the protector is fully fitted over your mattress, the protector provides a water resistant barrier, so you don't need to worry if you spill liquids on the protector, our clever TPU backing helps prevent the liquid from seeping through to the mattress.
The liquid will mainly pool on top of the protector. If there are liquid droplets sitting on top of the protector, it is best to soak the excess liquid off the top by using a cloth or tissue to soak up the extra liquid droplets. Once this has been done, you can unzip the top layer of the protector and wash this in the washing machine before refitting back on the bed.
The protector is really easy to take off to wash. Find the zipper and unzip this all the way round. The top section of the protector will completely unzip from the bottom. This mean it is really easy to take it off and wash it. Once the top layer has been washed and is fully dry, you can easily zip this back on to the bottom layer. This means you don't have to struggle to take the bottom layer off every time you need to wash it. If you wish to wash the bottom layer as well, unzip the top layer fully off, then you can carefully pull the bottom layer out from underneath your mattress.
The top section of the protector will zip straight back on to the bottom half. Please see this handy video here which shows you how to zip the top back on.
We offer 2 different depths for our mattress protectors, to make sure you have the best fit for your mattress. We recommend if your mattress is over 30cm high, that you purchase the Deep Fit Great Barrier Mattress Protector option. To find out how deep your mattress is, we recommend that you measure the height of your mattress before selecting a size.
This is personal preference and depends on the size of your topper. If you put the protector underneath the topper, your mattress will be fully protected and you will still feel the same comfort from your topper. BUT your topper will not be protected from any liquids. You can choose to put your protector over your topper, but make sure that you have measured the mattress and the topper together to get the total height, so you are selecting the correct mattress protector size. You also may find that the mattress protector is a snug fit and affects the comfort of your topper when you sleep on it, but the topper will be fully protected from liquids.
We recommend that if your mattress is under 30cm that you purchase our standard depth protector. If your mattress is over 30cm we recommend that you purchase our deep fit protector that stretches up to 37cm. The protector is designed to have a snug fit around your mattress so that it does not move around while you are sleeping and offers the best protection. Don't worry if this feels tight, the gusset is designed to stretch to comfortably fit your mattress.
These silicone dots on the bottom side of the protector, are designed to have an extra layer of grip between your bed base and the bottom of the mattress protector. These are to help prevent your mattress moving around while you sleep.
The mattress protector is not designed to be slept on directly. Place a Koala Fitted sheet over the mattress before sleeping.
A mattress protector helps to prolong the life of your mattress by keeping it clean.

Machine Washing
Pre-wash your natural linens before first use.
Separate linens from other items in the wash - especially polyester which tends to create pilling, and items with heavy zippers, which can damage the fabric
Do not overload the washing machine, as it can break down fibres from excessive abrasion and agitation
Wash in cold water with non-chlorine bleach detergent on a gentle cycle with a cold water rinse.
Detergent
Use an eco friendly mild, non-alkaline liquid detergent without added bleach or whiteners as they can also weaken and discolour certain fabric fibres
Do not pour detergent directly on linens. Instead, add it to the water as the wash tub fills or dilute with water, then add linens
We recommend using a eucalyptus based detergent such as wool wash which you can find in your local supermarket for your Tencel sheets
Fabric softener
While most bed linen do not require fabric softeners, some fabrics like our French Linen, it is recommended to use fabric softener.
Stains
Clean stains as quickly as possible.
Do not strenuously scrub the stain away, we recommend gently soak, wash or blot it out.
Remember once a stain is truly set, it is often difficult to remove
Bleaching
Do not use chlorine bleach - it can weaken fibres and cause them to yellow prematurely
Drying
Line drying is recommended., however do not leave sheets on the clothesline or in direct sun for a prolonged period as natural fibres are susceptible to sun bleaching.
Some of our ranges may suggest tumble dried if required. Please select the gentle setting with low temperature (do not use a high/ hot setting as this will damage the fibre). If it states do not tumble dry, please do not tumble dry as it can cause shrinkage.
Ironing
If you do choose to iron your item, we recommend that you use your iron the reverse on a warm setting. Please avoid ironing directly on any decorative panels, studs or buttons.
Chemicals
Some hair and skin products may cause discolouration and pilling of linens (eg hair or body oils, heavy creams and especially specific acne lotions or toothpastes that contain oxidising agents such as peroxide and other bleaching properties ), be careful as the chemicals in these can stain or strip the colour off your sheets.
Storage
Store linens in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area
Ensure the sheets are completely dry before storing.
Organic Cotton
No, the playful embroidery is a unique feature on the Grey Gum & Ocean Salt reversible crumple duvet sets.

Some extra tips to look after your linen:
Avoid overloading your washing machine
Use eco friendly detergents where possible.
Skip the use of the dryer when you can (it's better for the planet and your sheets!)
Use the cold washing setting, avoid high heat settings.
The most sustainable thing is always line drying your sheets in shade.
When storing them, ensure they are out of sunlight, in a dry area and not in a plastic bag which promotes yellowing.
We recommend not to dry clean the sheets, Dry cleaning involves the use of strong chemicals. Our sheets are easy to clean. Follow the care instructions on the label
Avoid using chemicals and harsh washing powders such as bleaching materials, sodium hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide and benzoyl peroxide (commonly found in acne medications, anti-aging creams, hair-dye products, teeth whitening systems and more).
Our sheets are super soft already so you don't need to use fabric softener but if you really want to, you can throw some in when washing no problem.
The beauty of our Organic Cotton is that has a washed, casual finish to give that “laid back” look. However you can also run the iron over the sheets as well if you prefer a crisper look.

Yes they will. We have made our sheets 40cm deep which means they will fit a wide range of mattresses. We have tight elastic around the edge to keep your sheets in place.

You can use this duvet cover in the same way as your normal bedding, but watch out for sharp zippers, buttons or if you let you fluffy dog friends on the bed, to make sure the gauze doesn't get caught on anything sharp.

Coastal Sofa
Covers should not be removed. Please follow the care instructions in the upkeep of the sofa and you will be able to maintain the new condition of your fabric sofa for many years to come. If you have any questions about the upkeep of your piece, don’t hesitate to get in touch and our team will be happy to help.
Pilling is a very normal part of owning a fabric sofa and can be caused by loads of different factors around the home.
Throws, rugs, clothes & pets can all leave additional fibres and as the surface comes in contact with a single or small group of fibres, the yarns will begin to twist, forming what is known as ‘pills’.
Don’t forget that your sofa is brand-spanking new and the yarns we used to create it contain millions of individual fibres. Losing a few of these on the surface as the fabric settles is as normal as wearing thongs to the beach.
The great news is, removing pilling is a piece of cake and will not affect the performance of your fabric. You can remove the pills yourself with an electric fabric shaver.
You can also vacuum your sofa on a weekly basis, this will help maintain the sofa and reduce the pilling.

Compact Sofa

Getaway Sofa
Although you can use the product almost straight away, we recommend that you give the seat a few hours to decompress before use. It can take a few days for the product to fully expand to the proper size and recover to its correct comfort level.
Covers should not be removed for cleaning. Please follow the care instructions in the upkeep of the sofa and you will be able to maintain the new condition of your fabric sofa for many years to come. If you have any questions about the upkeep of your piece, don’t hesitate to get in touch and our team will be happy to help.
We have engineered life laid back comfort into Getaway for maximum slouchability. And, unlike many other places that sell "comfort" , Getaway gets-away from needing any animal feathers in the cushions like duck or geese. After a period of use, a quick floof up and dressing of the cushion will have the sofa looking great.
The Getaway fabrics have been tested for durability and have a stain resistant coating to give additional protection (so no need to apply it yourself). We recommend a yearly professional dry-clean.
For spot cleaning, act fast and lightly blot liquid stains. For sauces, use a spoon to lift up the excess. Use a mild dishwashing solution and warm water or a quality supermarket upholstery shampoo for persistent stains.
Being a natural material, timber grain and features will vary from piece-to-piece. We aim to match the timber colours closely but there will always be minor differences in tone.
The timber used has a coating to help protect it from the daily grind. A wipe down with a clean, damp cloth will prevent dust build up. Avoid placing the timber near heat sources. Sunlight can alter the colour of timber and its tone will change over time.
Please make sure your sofa is used on an even surface for your drawers to function correctly.
We recommend 20kg per drawer. Tempting as it looks for kids, the drawers are not indoor billy-carts.
120kgs per seat.
We have made our Getaway frame from thick steel tube to create a sturdy base. The arms and backrest are made from durable plywood and the seat base is a tough non-woven material. The entire sofa frame is flat-packed and requires no tools to assemble.
To ensure a high degree of tolerance and quality, the drawers come fully assembled and are ready to use right out of the box.
At this stage we are not offering custom selection you can only purchase the product as shown in the images.
Just like a new car smell, opening a new sofa can create a unique smell of polyurethane foam, which is common in foam mattresses. If aired out or placed in a ventilated area the smell will often disappear quite quickly – usually within few hours to two weeks after unboxing.
This sofa's foam is made without formaldehyde, are low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), and meet CertiPUR-US® standards for content, emissions, and durability.

Stunner Sofa Bed
Our super comfy seat cushion has been designed for uninterrupted comfort. Like flying direct to London in 1st class.
This one long seat cushion allows you to sit or nap to your heart’s content without any of those annoying seams, bulging cushions or even the remote control slipping down the middle of the cushions and causing arguments every...single...night #wegotyou.
However, due to the style of the seat cushion and having one continuous piece of fabric, some of those wrinkles may be unavoidable.
To Help freshen up your sofa bed
1. Lift up your seat cushion, go to each end of the sofa, and pull on both front and back corners. Once you have pulled on both corners this will help move the fabric back to its normal position.
2. Pretend it’s a shiny new car that’s just had a polish and run your hands along the top of the cover to smooth out any excess wrinkles.
3. We can’t all be like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory and sit in one exact position on the couch every day. Make sure you vary where you sit. This will help with fabric puddling in one area. You know what they say, a change of position on the couch is as good as a holiday!
4. Vacuum the cushions on a regular basis on a low setting. This will keep the fabric looking new and fresh and can help to prevent balling/pilling.
Even though there are zippers on some covers we don’t recommend removing them to wash.

Cushions
To reduce space in transport (and our carbon footprint), we have machines safely compressing the cushions. Rest assured, they will bounce back to size in a few hours.
High temperature washing and drying can cause the zipper to bend. Be sure to only wash the cushion in a cold machine cycle. Follow the care instructions provided.
Please do not place the iron directly on the zipper. This may cause scratches and deformation of the snaps and breakage or distortion of plastic snaps. This could also damage your iron.
Yes, our cushions come with cushion inserts. The cover is removable and washable for easy care.
We do not sell cushion inserts separately at the moment. If you need more cushion inserts we recommend checking your local stores.
Yes, our cushion covers are designed for easy care and cleaning. Follow the care instructions attached to the product to ensure they last a long time.
Cushion inserts can only be spot cleaned. Please follow the care instructions attached to the inserts.
For best results, use a cold cycle for your cushion covers. Each wash cycle leaves a carbon footprint, so by switching to cold water, you can reduce the amount of energy used by your machine — helping to decrease the overall environmental impact of your laundry load. Do your bit in leading the way to a more sustainable future.
Our design and quality assurance team constantly strive to match the colours you see online to the material colours delivered to your door. Due to individual screen settings, the colour may be slightly different in real life but if it doesn’t suit your liking, we offer a 120-night guarantee where you can send it back free of charge.
Unless stated, cushions are designed for indoor use, however if you do bring them outside, we recommend you keep them away from direct sunlight and bring them in at night
Thoughtfully disposing of packaging is not only better for the environment, it can be reused to create new products. For Paper and Cardboard, flatten your cardboard boxes or rip them up before placing them in your curbside recycling bin. Please remove the tape from the cardboard boxes before placing them in the recycling bin.
For Plastic, you can recycle the soft plastic used to protect your product at your nearest REDcycle drop off point Find the REDcycle drop off point nearest to you
If you’re ever unsure what the go is, pay a visit to recyclingnearyou.com.au or contact your local council
The majority of councils cannot accept soft plastic for recycling via their kerbside collection because soft plastic jams the automated sorting machines at the Materials Recovery facility.
All cushion inserts are made using siliconised fibre fill to give you the soft cloud like feel.
You can keep inserts in excellent shape by: Plumping your cushions regularly, airing cushions inserts from time to time, spot cleaning using water and mild detergent only.
When drying, lay inserts flat in a warm but well ventilated place as the Australian climate can be especially harsh on all fabrics. Avoid machine washing, tumble drying, bleaching, or dry cleaning.
The Koala cushions are made using high-quality textiles which do deserve a little extra care to ensure their longevity.
All cushion covers are removable, so you can toss the cushion into the washing machine when required.
Avoid using linen sprays as sprays have chemicals or essential oils that may cause fabric to discolour, yellow, or stain in spots.
Avoid rubbing fabric, especially short-fibres fabrics such as cotton as rubbing fabric against other fabrics can cause abrasion, creating tangling and pilling.
You should avoid sleeping on the cushions since sometimes make-up contains chemicals that can discolour or stain the fabric.
Use extreme caution when spraying a fabric with waterproof or stain-proof sprays. Such sprays may not be suitable and could cause discolouring. Always check your fabric’s suitability before application, it would be prudent to do a patch test first on an inconspicuous spot to determine colour fastness.
Do not use cleaning products containing bleach or bleaching agents.
Avoid leaving cushion covers near/out in the sun for long periods to prevent fading as the Australian climate can be especially harsh on all fabrics.
Throws
Organic farming methods exclude the use of synthetic and hazardous pesticides and fertilisers that are commonly used in conventional farming. This ensures that the surrounding lands aren’t exposed to pollutants that will harm the local flora and fauna.
Organic cotton is naturally circular, which means it can be reused, recycled and returned to the earth. The fibres that shed during laundering will biodegrade unlike polyester fibres that do not degrade.
Organic content standard (OCS) is an international voluntary standard that sets requirements for 3rd party certification to track organic raw materials (certified to an IFOAM-approved organic farm standard) through the supply chain.
Dry cleaning uses high temperatures and harsh chemicals which can damage and deteriorate the delicate, natural organic fibres. We recommend machine washing them on a cold cycle to keep your throw in the best condition.
Our fabrics are made from natural organic fibres and while we have preshrunk our throws, it is not recommended to dry the throw using a dryer. We’d recommend air drying on the clothes line, ideally in a shaded location.
We would not recommend putting your throw in the dryer. Gently pull your throw to shape after washing and toss it over several lines in cool shade to air dry.
We do not recommend ironing as it is not required. However if you do wish to iron the throw, please follow the care instructions attached to the product.
Our design and quality assurance team constantly strive to match the colours you see online to the material colours delivered to your door. Due to individual screen settings, the colour may be slightly different in real life but if it doesn’t suit your liking, we offer a 120-night guarantee where you can send it back free of charge.
Unless stated, throws are designed for indoor use, however if you do bring them outside, we recommend you keep them away from direct sunlight and bring them inside at night.
A throw blanket, as the name suggests, is a more versatile blanket that’s designed to look like it’s just been thrown across your lounge or bed. It’s perfect to cuddle up with for a nap, or simply use as a decorative element to your living space.
We’ve spent countless hours ensuring our throws are as soft as can be so fabric softeners are not necessary. Follow the care instructions attached to the product for more details.
For best results, use a cold cycle for your throw. Each wash cycle leaves a carbon footprint, so by switching to cold water, you can reduce the amount of energy used by your machine — helping to decrease the overall environmental impact of your laundry load. Do your bit in leading the way to a more sustainable future.
Throws are versatile pieces that can be used throughout your home. They’re great to snuggle up under when it’s a little chilly or they can be lazily draped over your lounge or bed as an accent piece or splash of colour for your room.
Thoughtfully disposing of packaging is not only better for the environment, it can be reused to create new products. Rugs
RWS is an internationally recognised voluntary standard that addresses the welfare of sheep and the land they graze on. A product that states the RWS logo means all sites beginning with the wool farmers, factories and Koala are certified.
The certification ensures mulesing is strictly prohibited, best practices in the management and protection of the land, and sheep are treated with respect to the Five Freedoms. More information can be found RWS wool ZQ is an on-farm certification programme established by NZM in 2007 and was the first of its kind in the world to require growers to meet strict standards with regard to animal welfare, environmental integrity, social responsibility, colour quality, and traceability.
These 2 standards are aligned to maximize the positive impact of both programmes on the environment, farming communities, and livestock.
Wool is harvested through a process called shearing. (It's like getting a 'number 4' haircut.)
Shearers are highly skilled people and pride themselves on careful handling of the sheep. They leave a good covering of wool on the sheep, to keep them warm. Machine shears are the most popular tool for shearing, as they are fast and efficient, for minimal stress on the animal.
Sheep have been bred for thousands of years to grow wool, therefore shearing is not just about harvesting wool — it's also about keeping the animals comfortable, relieving them from having to endure the hot summer months with a heavy fleece.
As part of being certified, the farms are third party audited including random audits conducted during the shearing season.
During our development process, we conducted an in-depth research into responsible wool. There are countries around that world that still practice mulesing. One of the main reasons why Koala have chosen to use NZ wool is that NZ officially banned the practice of mulesing in October 2018.

Different textures in carpets can make the rug appear wrinkled. This is because textured carpets do not provide much support for the rug.
When heavy items such as dining tables are placed on top of the rug this will show more.
We highly recommend always using a rug with an underlay as it offers stability and durability. This will help to prevent the risk of rug movement, bunching of the rug, protect timber flooring, and to extend the life of your rug.
While we currently do not have our own recycling of rugs, you could contact TRAKS Textiles Visit trakstextiles.com for more information on how to dispose of your existing rug in an environmentally responsible way.
It may take 1-2 days for your rug to settle flat on the floor. This is not always the case but may happen occasionally as the rug is rolled and packed tightly for shipment.
Some rugs with a pile or loops may look crushed, rest assured the colours will expand and bounce back when laid flat for a few days.
Yes, however due to the rugs being handmade, care must be taken to rotate the rug occasionally. Avoid placing a chair with castor wheels e.g. an office chair, as it can get caught in the weave and damage the rug.
Most robot vacuums can go over rugs, with some differences of course.
Rugs with tassels, or high loop weaves, loose weaves can get damaged, please ensure these rugs are set with a no go zone. If your robot vacuum does not have an app that enables no go zones, prep by folding the rug. Always check the instructions on your robot vacuum before using it on the rugs.
Our rugs are hand made, and wool can experience shedding as it is a natural colour. This can happen for sometime. Regular vacuuming using the floor setting, will help. Remove any fluff gently.
Our rugs are handmade, which means they are threaded by crafted artisans to give each rug its own unique charm, the beauty lies in these subtle organic imperfections. These are not considered as flaws or a reason to return.
When vacuuming and during daily use, these long ends of yarn occasionally come to the surface. Do not pull or tug the loops. A simple solution is to push the loop down or remove any loose ends delicately with a pair of scissors. Be careful not to cut directly into the rug or threading or pulling as it can lead to holes appearing.
We have tested our rugs for preservation. However as with any rug, direct sunlight can fade the s over time.
As the rugs are individually handwoven and handmade, there could be a slight variance of +-3%.
We have taken every effort to ensure there is minimal colour variation including weave thickness, however some variation can be expected as these are handwoven rugs by artisans and each rug is individually unique.
At Koala, we’re focused on creating a sustainable future, and hence designed our rugs with an environmentally sustainable approach where possible and because it is the right thing to do. So whichever rug you choose, rest assured that they are made keeping you in mind.
Wool rugs
Wool is natural, renewable, planet friendly and ocean safe.
Our wool rugs are made from natural NZ wool, using the highest standards to ensure they are not only responsibly sourced but are also ethically sourced.
Jute and Jute blend rugs
Our Jute and Jute blended rugs are made from Jute which is a durable colour that can withstand high traffic areas and has minimal shedding, good for homes with pets, though not 100% pet proof.
Recycled Polyester rugs
The tufted colours are made using recycled plastic bottles, so for every rug made, it means less waste going into landfill. These rugs are easy to care for and extremely versatile.
Our jute rugs and recycled polyester rugs are pet-friendly, not 100% pet proof. Excessive scratching, chewing can damage your rug. Little accidents must be attended to immediately to prevent staining, odours and mould building up.
Wool rugs require a professional clean every 1-3yrs, Frequency depends on the level of activity and how often are stains removed, properly vacuumed.
Jute and Jute blended rugs —vacuum regularly or dust when required. These rugs should not be wet cleaned.
For a more detailed guide on cleaning your rug, you can download the Koala Rug care guide here.
Our rugs are shipped in recyclable plastic packaging to protect them from damage. Sometimes you could get a slight odour after unrolling. Some people might be a bit more sensitive than others. Allowing several days for the rug to air out in fresh air and also using a small amount of a fabric freshener should help in alleviating the odour.

Kookaburra Cot
This Cot is suitable for newborn babies to toddlers up to an age of 3.5 years old. Keep in mind that little ones grow at different rates, so when they are observed attempting to climb out of the cot it is recommended they sleep in a toddler bed.
Both sides are fixed and can not be removed to function as a toddler bed. The Joey bed base is the perfect next step for a child transitioning out of a cot.
All the side rails are made from solid timber so they may dent but will not break. If your child is biting the cot during teething, consider investing in a teething guard which can be purchased online.
